Ugh...it's been a long time since I wrote anything. Well, it's been hard times all around and around here hasn't been any exception. However, as of late there have been some definite bright spots in my life. Three very amazing things have happened in the past month.
1. I got married! Nothing big or huge. We went down to the courthouse one Friday morning with the pumpkin and our parents in tow. Still, it was absolutely amazing to stare into his eyes and listen to him promise to be my husband. Also the magistrate who married was very nice and had my daughter sign the marriage certificate as well to make it "official".
We'd still like to have some sort of big to-do with a ring exchange and all. However, it was important we get married quickly to get me on his insurance because....
2. I'm pregnant. All I can say is that this was quite surprise considering how careful we've been, but its a welcome surprise. The pumpkin is thrilled. Her only request is that that baby isn't allowed in her room and can't touch her stuff. My husband (so excited I can use that term) is thrilled as well and likes to rub my not yet baby bump and say "baby".
3. We're buying a house. Right now 1 & 2 kinda suck because I'm still living at the cottage and he's still living with his parents. There isn't enough room for him to move in let alone for us to have a baby here. But we were saving up for a house anyway and the recent downturn in the housing market has really come out in our favor. We're still looking right now, but I have the feeling we'll find something before summer.

Dark Times
The bad economy is really not news at this point, but it really finally has hit home for me. Well, for awhile now I've had a tough time getting a job but to certain extent I've chalked it up to my poor interviewing skills combined with a lack of local positions. But today my father lost his job.
This is such a profound shock as I can't remember the last time my father lost his job. I know it happened back in 70's when the economy was bad. But I've grown up with that stability all my life, knowing that my parents will always be all right.
Moreover, I have to put my own house plans on hold in order to help keep them afloat. I can't explain how much this sucks. Just two days ago, the fi and I were getting together stuff to go get pre-approved and making wedding plans.
I'm trying not to be bitter, but to be so close and to lose it all hurts so much. I know it sounds selfish compared to what my parents are going through, but the fi and I worked really hard and made a lot of sacrifices to get to this point.
I don't know what to do next. For now, all I can do is sub and hopefully our plans won't be put on hold for long.

So yeah, I totally got sucked in there...
I've been playing WoW. Way too much. But today I haven't even signed on. I think I need to make sure I have at least 1 WoW-free day a week.
I also got Little Big Planet--which may be the most awesomely awesome game ever. Play it. Even better, play it with friends.
I'm behind in my studies of the Craft. I let myself get distracted. But I'm back on track now.
Otherwise, the start of the new year came and went. No promises, no goals, no expectations. I just want to enjoy life right now.

Off the Wagon
I did it. I went back to World of Warcraft. So did the fi. I like it so far, though I feel a bit left out as all our old friends are already 80 and raiding. Well, I'm not going to worry about playing catching up; I'm just going to enjoy myself.
I'm going to try really hard to not get totally sucked in by the game. I didn't work today and I haven't played yet either. I did some shopping. I cleaned and decorated (and had a huge mirror fall on me when I tried to bedeck it with garland!). I then worked on my studies. Finally, I came here to blog and check some websites. So, I'm hopeful that I can keep WoW something I do for fun on the side.
Here's hoping!

Its even more embarrassing for me.
Wil Wheaton is cool. Cool in that geek way anyway. I follow his blog on semi-regular basis and would welcome the opportunity to hear him speak.
But then I'm a bit of a rare breed of geek. Most geeks I know hated Wil Wheaton for the longest time because of Wesley Crusher. They got over it when they found out what a cool geek he was. But me? Well, because I was slightly younger than him and of the opposite gender--I had the hugest crush on him when he was on TNG!
Why bring this up now? Because I was playing catch up at his blog and came across this post. Why is it embarrassing for me? Because I had that exact picture in my collection of "like guys I'm like so going to marry someday!" cut from the pages of Tiger Beat.
Still, its funny--of all the celebrity "crushes" of my youth, he's the only one I still like. No, I have no plans to marry him anymore--he's happily married, I'm soon to be happily married. The rest of them seem like shallow pretty boys, but Wil--he had substance. Hence proving my theory once again that the sexiest part of a man is his brain.

Randomnosity!
- My brother let me play a death knight on his account in WoW. I feel like an addict whose been given a shitload of their drug of choice. I kid you not, 20 minutes later and I'm shaking with withdrawal.
- Can I say that this makes me so fucking happy! Stupid dolls.
- Damn it all! Will Congress get over it already and just give the Chrysler and GM a bailout. Yes, we know--you fucked up with financial industry bailout. Not giving one to them is just going to fuck over more people. Maybe if you hadn't fucked up with the banks, the banks could be giving them loans right now instead of you.
- And on something slightly tangential--will everyone stop saying "The Big Three". In case anyone noticed, Ford has stepped out of this whole mess.
- What the hell is going on Canada?
- My house is clean. Very very clean and ready to decorate for Christmas.
- Viva la Revolucion
- Yes, I've been wasting a lot of time lately. I haven't been writing as much as I should. I haven't been working as much as I could. But I've devoted myself to my studies and they are going well. Baby steps mind you, but I think I'm at least standing now.
- Honestly, life is good right now. I count my blessings and thank the Goddess!
